Big Brooch

Founder: Olesya Zhuravleva

Brand DNA

Unique technique, signature style, exclusivity, and entirely handmade.

Concept

Handcrafted floral accessories have always been a luxury reserved for affluent buyers. Olesya Zhuravleva made this luxury accessible to anyone who values style and authenticity.

Brand History

The brand's founder, Olesya Zhuravleva, has been creating fabric flowers since 2007. She trained at the fashion houses of Valentin Yudashkin and Vyacheslav Zaitsev and adorned events at the Kremlin and concerts of international and Russian stars with her floral creations. The Big Brooch brand gained widespread recognition after a collaboration with Guerlain as part of the promotional campaign for the Bloom Guerlain fragrance, where Olesya hand-made batches of 500 brooches each. Today, luxury brooches, chokers, blouses, and other models with floral motifs are chosen by international and Russian stars for everyday wear and special occasions.

Blitz

Music track that most often plays during work?
I'm very inspired by French and Italian music
Brand item you want to wear non-stop?
In the new collection, there's a black tulip made of genuine leather with carabiners on a leather cord. It fits perfectly with any outfit. I also love our organza blouses. They look great with jeans and a tank top for everyday life, with shorts and a swimsuit on vacation, and naturally fit into evening ensembles as well. The blouse fits perfectly in sizes from 46 to 54 and at any height
Favorite/least favorite part of the fashion process?
I really dislike handling organizational tasks, giving assignments to the team, and writing various reports. But I love creating a new piece, sketching designs, and draping fabric on a mannequin so that the final result exceeds all expectations
Which historical or literary character would you make the face of the brand?
Elsa Schiaparelli
Scent associated with the brand?
I think it would be floral motifs with fresh notes. Perhaps a vintage scent reminiscent of Italy or France
Location in the Urals where you'd like to shoot a collection?
All our collections are very different. Some clearly have historical motifs, and an old historical corner of the city would suit them. For innovative models (for example, a cape made of 3,000 petals), it would be appropriate to shoot against the backdrop of skyscrapers. I also like the area around UrGU. We've had several shoots there
Event that influenced the brand's journey?
Probably the collaboration with Guerlain. Their representatives themselves reached out to me with a proposal to create 500 brooches for them. I personally made them by hand, working 20 hours a day non-stop. It was incredibly tough but undoubtedly elevated Big Brooch to a new level
Who wears Big Brooch?
Today, it's hard to list all the stars, as new celebrities follow our social media every day. Some of them include Alexander Rogov, Timur Rodriguez, Mitya Fomin, Yulia Zivert, Zara, Marianna Eliseeva, Eva Polna, Oksana Fedorova, Yulia Baranovskaya, Alexey Sukharev, Nonna Grishaeva, Polina Dibrova, Ida Galich, Yulia Kovalchuk, and many others
The hardest part of creating a collection?
Finding the right materials so that everything holds its shape perfectly the first time and the concept comes to life on the fabric
Advice for aspiring designers?
Believe in yourself and never give up
Brand in one phrase?
