From Ancient Depths
The Ural-based jewellery brand Цаzki has crafted pieces inspired by the spiral teeth of the ancient Helicoprion fish. This collaboration, created in partnership with the “Cultural Enlightenment” project, coincides with the release of the documentary Prehistoric Creatures of the Urals, which explores the paleontological history of the Sverdlovsk region. Approximately 298–251 million years ago, a predatory fish with a spiral-shaped tooth structure inhabited the marine basin in what is now the Urals. Цаzki chose to replicate the impression of the Helicoprion’s teeth in silver, offering it as a pendant and a brooch.
Dina Kropacheva, founder of Цаzki, shares: “This project brought together everything we love: history, archaeology, and our homeland (you might recall our ‘Yekaterinburg’ ring and ‘Europe-Asia’ earrings). Of course, we couldn’t miss such an opportunity. Inspired by history and nature’s wonders, we created a truly unique piece of jewellery. The collection features a pendant and a brooch that faithfully replicate the shape of the original fossils. The reverse side bears the inscription ‘Helicoprion.’ This unusual, even enigmatic piece is sure to catch the eye and spark curiosity.”
